No student should miss the opportunity
to experience life beyond the classroom at Tech. Through
involvement with student activities and leadership development
initiatives, students will find their Tech experience
more enjoyable, more meaningful and more educational.
Whether you decide to become involved in institutional
decision making and allocation of student fees, pursuing
a special interest/talent through a club, developing lifelong
friendships with a Greek-letter organization, helping
to communicate to and about Tech through student media,
or serving the community for the greater good of our world
and campus, we have the opportunity for you.
You’ll be amazed at how much you grow by doing what
you love and how much you will feel more motivated to
do well academically when you get involved in activities.
Participation in student life will make the difference
between a pretty good college experience and an exceptional
one!
Georgia Tech offers many opportunities to enjoy life beyond
the classroom…
- Student Government
Association (SGA) – Undergraduate and
Graduate students can find numerous opportunities
to serve the campus community by getting involved
with SGA. The executive branch of SGA has numerous
committees both within SGA and on the campus at large
that need student involvement. Representatives to
the legislative body, the decision makers, are elected
annually. The judiciary hears cases of student misconduct
and provides constitutional guidance organizations.
- Campus Organizations
– There are over 300 organizations on campus.
These include community service, Greeks, professional
and honor societies, cultural and diversity groups,
sports clubs, recreation groups, publications and
production, and religious and spiritual organizations.
If you can’t find one that fits your interests,
you are always welcome to start one of your own.
- Community Service
Volunteering – The Office of Community
Service houses M.O.V.E. (Mobilizing Opportunities
for Volunteer Experience), which is an organization
consisting of 16 committees that address a plethora
of issues in addition to providing many additional
service opportunities throughout the year.
- LeaderShape
– This intensive, interactive six-day leadership
development program is available to all undergraduate
Georgia Tech students and it focuses on self-assessment,
reflection, and feedback associated with leadership
development. For more information, visit the Leadershape
website.
- Conference Diversity
Issues and Programs – Students can develop
leadership skills by serving on committees like Kwanzaa,
Religious Awareness Week, Disability and Diversity
Week, or GT COW (Coming Out Week). Students can also
serve on the Diversity Forum, a campus-wide initiative
that offers students the opportunity for the open
exchange of ideas around diversity issues. Workshops
and training opportunities are conducted for students
and student groups. Georgia Tech is a campus affiliate
of the National
Coalition Building Institute (NCBI).
- Student Publications
– With five student publications (Technique,
Blue Print, North Avenue Review, Erato, and T-book),
there are many ways for students to get involved in
student publications.
- GT SMART –
GT SMART enhances the overall learning environment
at Tech through a campus/community coalition, which
manages a series of initiatives to reduce the high-risk
drinking by students.
- Greek Life
– Fraternities and sororities are an excellent
way to make new friends, volunteer in the community,
get involved on campus, and have fun! With 42 organizations
from which to choose, there is something for everyone.

website.
