Undergraduate Judiciary Cabinet (UJC)

The UJC is the judicial branch of the undergraduate arm of Tech’s Student Government Association (SGA). It hears cases of non-academic misconduct that involve Institute undergraduates. Cases arrive at the UJC when a student decides to have a panel of their peers hear the case instead of a representative in the Office of Student Integrity (OSI) or when the OSI representative chooses to send the case directly to the panel. The panel then makes a recommendation to the Assistant Dean of Students/Director of Student Integrity who then makes the decision about the student’s case. It is composed of 11 panel members and one (1) panel chair, who are selected through a process that involves approval and oversight from undergraduate SGA’s executive and legislative wings. In order for a case to be heard, at least six (6) panel members and one (1) panel chair must be present.

Graduate Judiciary Cabinet (GJC)

The GJC is the graduate counterpart to the UJC. The GJC is the judicial branch of the graduate arm of Tech’s Student Government Association (SGA). It hears cases of non-academic misconduct that involve Institute graduate students. Cases arrive at the GJC when a student decides to have a panel of their peers hear the case instead of a representative in the Office of Student Integrity (OSI) or when the OSI representative chooses to send the case directly to the panel. The panel then makes a recommendation to the Assistant Dean of Students/Director of Student Integrity who then makes the decision about the student’s case. It is composed of five (5) panel members and one (1) panel chair, who are selected through a process that involves approval and oversight from graduate SGA’s executive and legislative wings. In order for a case to be heard, at least two (2) panel members and one (1) panel chair must be present.

Student Honor Committee (Honor Committee) 

The Student Honor Committee is an arm of the Faculty Senate that hears cases of academic misconduct that involve Institute undergraduates and graduates. Cases arrive at the Honor Committee either when the Office of Student Integrity (OSI) representative forwards them or when a student chooses the Honor Committee instead of the OSI representative. Its membership consists of 12 faculty members, six (6) undergraduate students, and three (3) graduate students. When it hears cases, the committee requires four (4) faculty members, as well as two students. If the accused student is an undergraduate, at least one of the two student representatives must be an undergraduate. If the accused is a graduate, the same is true. The Faculty Senate elects representatives to three-year terms. The undergraduate and graduate SGA presidents appoint student representatives to year-long terms, with the approval of the legislative branch.

Residence Hall Association Judicial Board (RHA Judicial Board)

The RHA Judicial Board is the Judicial Branch of Georgia Tech Housing’s Residence Hall Association.  The Judicial Branch has several functions. It resolves disputes between other RHA branches and hall councils and it hears cases of non-academic misconduct that occur in and around the residence halls. The Chief Justice also presides over hearings in which an RHA officer is being removed. Cases arrive at the RHA Judicial Board when a student decides to have a panel of their peers hear a high level case instead of a Student Conduct Administrator (SCA) or when the SCA chooses to send the case directly to the panel. The panel then makes a recommendation to the Coordinator of Residential Judicial and Training Programs and the Coordinator then makes the decision about the student’s case. In order for a case to be heard, at least six (6) panel members and one (1) Chief Justice must be present. The Chief Justice is appointed by the President of RHA. The Chief Justice selects the remaining board members.
